MOJO STITCHES - PEACE & PLENTY: A NEW YEAR'S WISH

My grandmother was born in the part of Austria near Hungary; and when I found the piece of Hungarian embroidery that inspired this design, it reminded me of her home, and of celebrations with family.  With this feeling in mind, I studied the embroidery and adapted it to cross-stitch.  Building on the motifs of the pomegranate and partridges (which can symbolise abundance), I added a few elements to evoke my wish for the upcoming year.  I hope stitching this will bring both peace and plenty to you.

This design has a stitch count of 197w x 149h, and if stitched on 40-count, fits into standard 8 x 10-inch frame.  The design uses full crosses over two, backstitches and Smyrna Crosses.  Of course, you stitch this on any count or colour of fabric, using your favourite floss.

In my model, I used one strand of floss over two threads of linen.  It can be stitched on linen, Aida or evenweave.  Model stitched on 40-count white linen, using 1 skein of Cottage Garden Threads LM28 Raspberry.

Please note: This design was created before collaborating on the 'Bookshelf' Edit - feel free to stitch it in the original beautiful LM28 Raspberry or your favourite colours - JK02 Leather bound or JK03 Bronte if you're a red fan, or any other colour that you like. 

Thread pack includes the original colour used, LM28 Raspberry.  If you wish to stitch in a different colour, it will need to be purchased seperately.
